Angel Romero

Angel Romero will make his international debut at the Vienna State Opera as a singer in Der Rosenkavalier after initial successes in the United States. Austin Opera will feature him as Pirelli in Sweeney Todd. At St. Louis Opera, he will appear as Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte. Angel Romero was previously a member of Pittsburgh Opera, where he attracted attention as an exceptional voice talent as Ferrando in Così fan tutte and Oronte in Alcina. He also expanded his repertoire in Pittsburgh with roles such as Arcadio in Florencia en el Amazonas and Jupiter in Semele. This was preceded by engagements at Central City Opera and Santa Fe Opera. In 2021, Angelo Romero was a semifinalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition and a finalist in the Eleonor MacCollum Competition. He sang the tenor solo in Beethoven's 9th Symphony under the direction of Marin Alsop and Governor and Vanderdendur in Candide with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony. A native of Houston, Angel Romero studied at Yale University and Houston Baptist University, taking on roles such as Tamino in The Magic Flute and the Fisherman in Le Rossignol while still a student.
