YONGHOON LEE was born in South Korea and studied at both Seoul National University and at the Mannes College of Music in New York. He has won numerous competitions. Yonghoon Lee quickly built up an international reputation as one of the leading tenors of his generation. He sings at major opera houses, such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Opera Frankfurt, Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Hamburg State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Zurich Opera House and at the Semper Opera House Dresden. Most recently, he has sung at the Metropolitan Opera Manrico in Il trovatore and Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana; Turiddu at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and at the Paris Opera, Manrico at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich; Don José with Opera Australia, Pollione in Norma with Dallas Opera; the title role in Andrea Chénier at San Francisco Opera. Yonghoon Lee has performed both Don Carlos and Cavaradossi at the Vienna State Opera.
