Sofia Fomina

Born in Russia, Sofia Fomina now performs regularly on the world's most important opera stages and concert platforms. She studied at the Orlovsky Academy of Music and the Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow. Her career began at the Novosibirsk Opera Theater. She later joined the ensemble of the Staatstheater Saarbrücken and was a member of the Frankfurt Opera from 2013-2015. Highlights in 2023/24 include her debut at the Vienna State Opera as Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and her return to Glyndebourne as Micaëla in a new production of Carmen. She also sings the role of Konstanze again at the Hamburg State Opera. Most recently, she sang Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) at the Semperoper, Konstanze at the Zurich Opera House, Ännchen in a new production of Der Freischütz at the Theater an der Wien and Oksana in Rimsky-Korsakov's The Night Before Christmas. She celebrated further successes in her US opera debut as Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at Seattle Opera, in her role and ensemble debut as Pamina in a new production of The Magic Flute at the Glyndebourne Festival and the BBC Proms, her debut at the Norwegian Opera as Micaëla, as Musetta (La bohème) at the Baden-Baden Festival, as Gilda (Rigoletto), Olympia (Les Contes d'Hoffman) and Jemmy (Guillaume Tell) at the Royal Opera House in London, at her debut at the Opéra de Paris as Blondchen in a new production of Die Entführung aus dem Serail, as Berthe (Le prophète) at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, at her role debut as Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Hamburg State Opera, in her role debut as Konstanze and her return as Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Gilda, Fiakermilli (Arabella) and Oscar (Un ballo in maschera) at the Bavarian State Opera. .
