ANGELO POLLAK

Tenor Angelo Pollak's musical path began at the age of six when he was accepted into the program for the promotion of gifted students at the University of Performing Arts and Music Vienna with the instruments piano and cello. He studied singing at the University of Performing Arts and Music Vienna and graduated with distinction in 2019. He also attended master classes with Peter Schreier, András Schiff, Robert Holl, Brigitte Fassbaender, Rudolf Jansen and Helmut Deutsch, among others. He gained his first opera experience at an early age in the children's opera of the Vienna State Opera, where he participated in two productions (“Traumfresserchen”, “Aladdin”). In summer 2013 Angelo Pollak made his debut at the Salzburg Festival as part of the Young Singers Project under the direction of Daniele Gatti. In 2014 he and his sister Fiona won first prize at the Vocallis Festival in Vaals. A short time later they received the 3rd prize at the International Lied Duo Competition in Enschede and reached the finals of the Schumann Lied Competition in Zwickau. In 2016 he became a member of the ensemble at the Regensburg Theater, where he could be seen as Tamino, Lyonel or Steuermann. In previous seasons he played the leading role in the world premiere of “Die Banalität der Liebe” by Ella Milch-Sheriff, which received a lot of media attention. Further appearances have taken him to the Fronhof Open Air Festival in Augsburg, to classical music at the Seefestival in Saarland, to St. Stephen's Cathedral and St. Augustine's Church in Vienna, to Tokyo, to the Theater an der Wien and to the Daegu Opera House Korea. He is a member of the Young Artist Program of the Wiener Staatsoper.
