Safety Curtain 2019/2020: “The Trojan Horse” by MARTHA JUNGWIRTH

For the 22nd Safety Curtain, the jury (Daniel Birnbaum and Hans-Ulrich Obrist) selected the internationally renowned Austrian artist Martha Jungwirth. Her work “The Trojan Horse” can be seen by the audience from October 10th, 2019 until the end of this season before the start of the performances, during the intermissions and at the end of the performances.

Safety Curtain is a project of museum in progress in cooperation with the Wiener Staatsoper and the Bundestheater-Holding, kindly supported in 2019 by the auction house im Kinsky and the PRIVAT BANK der Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich, with additional support of ART for ART, Barta & Partner and Bildrecht. In the Donizetti-Salon at the Wiener Staatsoper, museum in progress exhibits original works by Martha Jungwirth, which feature many-layered references to the Safety Curtain. They can be seen during performance visits. Furthermore, a signed lithograph by Martha Jungwirth is on display, which features the subject of the Safety Curtain: By purchasing this lithograph (made by workshop Kurt Zeit), art and opera enthusiasts will be making an important contribution to the continuation of this exhibition series of museum in progress at the Wiener Staatsoper. The edition will also be presented in an exhibition in the display windows of PRIVAT BANK of the Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich in Vienna, Operngasse 2.
