»Iron Curtain« 2022/23 by Cao Fei

On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, the temporary »Iron Curtain« 2022/23 was presented: State Opera Director Bogdan Roščić, museum in progress Managing Director Kaspar Mühlemann Hartl, and curator and jury member Daniel Birnbaum presented the work »The New Angel« by internationally renowned Chinese artist Cao Fei to mark the 25th anniversary of the »Iron Curtain« project. Once again, an international jury consisting of Daniel Birnbaum, Bice Curiger and Hans-Ulrich Obrist was responsible for the selection of the artist, while the stage orchestra of the Vienna State Opera provided the musical accompaniment to the presentation.

The large-scale exhibition (176 m2) of the exhibition series »Iron Curtain«, conceived by museum in progress (mip.at) and realized since 1998 in cooperation with the Vienna State Opera and the Bundestheater-Holding, can be seen until the end of June 2023.

On the occasion of the project, a signed edition by Cao Fei will be published by museum in progress. By purchasing this edition, art and opera lovers make an important contribution to the continuation of the »Iron Curtain« exhibition series.
