The conductor TOMÁS HANUS studied at the Janácek Academy. He is currently the Musical Director of Welsh National Opera. He not only conducts numerous opera productions, but also many concerts and conducted the prestigious Cardiff Singer of the World competition. In previous seasons, he has conducted opera productions at the Danish National Opera, at the Teatro Real in Madrid, at the Finnish National Opera, Paris Opera, at the Janácek Opera in Brno (whose Director of Music was away for several years), at the National Theatre in Prague as well as in Berlin, Dresden, Basel, Kopenhagen, Oslo, Lyon and Warsaw. The conductor works closely with the Bavarian State Opera and has conducted such opera productions as Jenufa, Rusalka, Hänsel und Gretel, Vec Makropulos there. Current and future opera projects for Tomás Hanus include appearances in Munich (Die verkaufte Braut), Brünn (Der Rosenkavalier) and Paris (Jolanta). Tomás Hanus has also had successful international engagements and has made numerous recordings.
