Benjamin Herzl

Violinist Benjamin Herzl (*1994) is praised by audiences and the press alike for his virtuoso perfection as well as his depth and high musicality. He is a scholarship holder of the Mozart Society Dortmund, winner of the International Brahms Competition and the Mozart Prize sponsored by Vadim Repin. Benjamin Herzl studied at the Salzburg Mozarteum and at the music universities in Vienna with Christian Altenburger and Julian Rachlin. He made his debut at the International Mozart Festival Mannheim at the age of 13 and has since appeared on renowned concert stages, including the Konzerthaus Dortmund, Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg, Vienna Musikverein, Brucknerhaus Linz, Oratorio San Felipe Neri Havana, Monforthaus Feldkirch and the International Music Festival Póvoa de Varzim in Portugal. In the 70th anniversary season of Jeunesse Musicales, he was a “featured artist” in numerous concerts in 2019/20. In 2024, he makes his debut with the Tonkünstlerorchester Niederösterreich and the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein. His chamber music partners include Imogen Cooper, Rafael Fingerlos, Julia Hagen, Reinhard Latzko, Ingmar Lazar, Othmar Müller, Julian Rachlin, Beatrice Rana, Fazil Say and Thomas Zehetmair. Benjamin Herzl has performed at festivals such as the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Grafenegg Festival, Festival 1001 Notes Limoges, LOISIARTE, Julian Rachlin & Friends, Dialoge Salzburg, Internationale Nikolaus Harnoncourt Tage, Les Musicales de Redon, Salzkammergut Festwochen Gmunden and Mozart Festival Havanna. Benjamin Herzl plays the “Ex Guilet” Joseph Guarnerius violin, Cremona anno 1732, made available to him by the Austrian National Bank – an instrument previously played by Daniel Guilet (Beaux Arts Trio), David Oistrakh, Henryk Szeryng and Joshua Bell. He is the founder and artistic director of the Concerti Corti Festival, which was first held in Salzburg in June 2023 in honour of the Austrian director Axel Corti.
