Vittorio Grigolo
Vittorio Grigolo was born in Arezzo, grew up in Rome and studied at the Sistine Chapel. At the age of 13 he sang the Shepherd in Tosca at the Roman Opera, at 17 he made his debut as a tenor and a little later was heard as Don Narciso in Rossini's Il turco in Italia at the Wiener Kammeroper. In 2000 he sang in the opening of the season at La Scala in Milan. He quickly made a name for himself internationally, most notably making his debut at New York's Metropolitan Opera in 2010 (Rodolfo in La bohème). His repertoire includes the central works of Italian and French opera, including La traviata, Rigoletto, Don Carlo, Madama Butterfly, Anna Bolena, L'elisir d'amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, Faust, Roméo et Juliette, Manon, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Werther, Carmen and Pagliacci. Recent appearances have taken him to La Scala in Milan, the Opera in Rome, the Arena di Verona, the San Francisco Opera and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, among others. He made his debut at the Wiener Staatsoper in 2013 as Alfredo (La traviata) and has also performed Nemorino (L'elisir d'amore), Rodolfo (La bohème), Cavaradossi (Tosca) and the title role in Werther.
