The participants (target group varies depending on the workshop) are invited to get to know the special features of an opera or ballet (new) production in the house through improvisations, scenic play, making music together or movement exercises. They can create their own musical theater scenes musically and scenically or develop small choreographies in the group. At the end of the course, the group will attend a performance at the Vienna State Opera or NEST on a subsequent day.
What can I expect?
A physical warm-up, singing and making music together under the guidance of a musician or a theater teacher, scenic play and improvisation in the group, a discourse on a topic or a character from an opera or a ballet as well as the presentation of the works developed on the day to the group. Depending on the topic, there are also impulses from cooperation partners. There is also an introduction to the selected work and playful preparation for the subsequent visit to the opera or ballet.
What is expected of me?
A desire for and enjoyment of creative group processes in community. No previous artistic knowledge is required.
How often do the community workshops take place?
Several times a year. The workshops do not build on each other and can be booked individually.
Who are the workshops for?
They vary depending on the original work: sometimes for children and families, sometimes for teenagers and young adults (U27), sometimes for all generations.
The community workshops are also accessible for people with disabilities. Please let us know when you register.
How long do the workshops last?
3-4 hours plus a joint visit to the opera or ballet on a subsequent day.
