The Romanian tenor IOAN HOTEA was born in 1990 in Baia Mare and, after reading Art in his hometown, studied solo singing. He studied Music from 2009 to 2013 at the College of Music in Bucharest. He has won numerous singing competitions, namely the Operalia competition. From 2011-2013, he built up his repertoire as a member of the an ensemble member of the National Opera in Bucharest and sang roles such as Nemorino, Almaviva, Don Ottavio, Rinuccio. His debut at the Paris Opera followed in 2014 as Tebaldo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi and at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Rinuccio. Soon after, he made his debut at the Zurich Opera House as Ernesto, in Liège as Dorvil (La scala di Seta), as Tamino, Ferrando and Nemorino in Wiesbaden, as Almaviva at the Greek National Opera as well as as Ernesto at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Current engagements include: Ernesto in the Staatstheater in Stuttgart, Elvina at Frankfurt Opera House, Des Grieux (Manon) and Duca at the Wiesbaden Staatstheater. He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera as Almaviva and has since sung Ferrando.
