Freddie De Tommaso
The British-Italian tenor Freddie De Tommaso rose to prominence in 2018 when he won first prize, the Plácido Domingo Tenor Prize, and the Verdi Prize at the Viñas Singing Competition in Barcelona. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music and attending the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera in 2019, he entered the international opera scene as Cassio (Otello) at London’s Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and Ismaele (Nabucco) at the Dutch National Opera.
At just 27 years old, Freddie De Tommaso opened the 2020/21 season at the Vienna State Opera as Pinkerton in a new production of Madama Butterfly. Since then, he has continued his meteoric rise at major international stages. His recent performances include Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) and Gustaf III (Un ballo in maschera) at the Liceu in Barcelona, Don José (Carmen) at the Arena di Verona, Cavaradossi (Tosca) at the Berlin and Bavarian State Operas, in Paris, and at New York’s Metropolitan Opera, Tannhäuser at the Salzburg Easter Festival, and Rodolfo (La bohème) in Budapest and Berlin.
