Masterpiece »Salome«

News |

Strauss' "Salome" is back from April 5. With Jennifer Holloway as Salome, Jörg Schneider as Herod and Tomasz Konieczny as Jochanaan.

Cyril Testes' production of Salome - created in 2023 - is an oppressive and precisely told masterpiece that traces the deeply hurtful and horrific world in which the title character grows up. Surrounded by wealth and power, Salome is on the run from her stepfather Herod and believes she will find salvation in the prophet Jochanaan. But he rejects her love - whereupon she demands his death.

In Salome, the composer Richard Strauss exhausted the orchestra's range of timbres, created countless atmospheres and moods - and wrote a work of the greatest challenges for singers. In the current series, Jörg Schneider performs Herod, Jennifer Holloway sings the title role and audience favorite KS Tomasz Konieczny takes on the role of Jochanaan.
