Great ballet moments to kick off the year

The Vienna State Ballet is making a glittering start to the new year with a top-class revival and an eagerly awaited role debut.

Right at the beginning of the year, the company dances the second performance series of Alexei Ratmansky's Kallirhoe. In this ballet adaptation of the oldest ancient romance novel, exciting choreography meets great emotions to the congenial, poetically powerful music of Aram Khachaturian.
The performance on January 4 will be a highlight: Dancer Sinthia Liz, appointed soloist by Alessandra Ferri, will make her debut in the title role of Kallirhoe alongside Alessandro Frola.

On January 30, the Vienna State Ballet celebrates another major revival: George Balanchine's Jewels returns to the repertoire. In three pictures, Balanchine beautifully unfolds various facets of pure dance: delicate romance, humorous coolness and imperial splendor. The precious stones emerald, ruby and diamond serve as metaphors for this brilliant ballet festival.

Note: I have made minor spelling and punctuation adjustments and added hyphenation according to German rules.
