First premiere of the new season "Die verkaufte Braut"

We are still in the 2024/25 season, but rehearsals for the first premiere of next season have already begun: Die verkaufte Braut, Bedřich Smetana's world opera hit, returns to the Vienna State Opera after almost 35 years.

The work is a virtuoso portrayal of the state of emergency in which an entire village finds itself during the Kirtag, but also of a young woman's seemingly hopeless struggle for her seemingly betrayed and sold love.

Incidentally, the Haus am Ring was at the beginning of the world career of The Bartered Bride: a production from 1896 provided the opera with its brilliant breakthrough. The new production - premiering in September - will be conducted by Tomáš Hanus and directed by Dirk Schmeding. The cast includes Slávka Zámečníková, Pavol Breslik, Peter Kellner and Michael Laurenz.
