Simon Neal

Simon Neal has established himself as one of the most important interpreters in his field, especially since his acclaimed debut as Wotan in the new Ring production in Düsseldorf.
Born in England, the Irish baritone initially pursued a business career before dedicating himself entirely to singing. From 2006 to 2011, he was a member of the ensemble in Dortmund, where he laid the foundation for his extensive repertoire.
Early guest appearances brought him to Opera Australia in Sydney, where he sang Pizarro, Scarpia, and Escamillo. This was followed by rapid debuts at English National Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, as well as in Dublin and Taiwan.
Further key engagements include Frankfurt (among others, the four villains in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Kurwenal in Tristan und Isolde, and the title role in Oedipe), the Semperoper Dresden, Oslo, Antwerp, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (including Rigoletto, Telramund, and Mandryka), Tamare (Die Gezeichneten) in Cologne and Lyon, the Dutchman in Lyon and Lille, Dr. Schön (Lulu) in Leipzig, Telramund (Lohengrin) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Cardillac in Antwerp and Ghent, and Pizarro in Amsterdam.
He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2022 as the Wanderer in Siegfried.
