Samuel Colombet

Samuel Colombet was born in Guilherand, France, and received his training at the Conservatoire de Danse in Avignon. In the 1995/96 season, he danced at the Lucerne Theatre, followed by an engagement at Theater Hof. Further contracts took him to the Halle Opera House (1999–2003) and in 2003/04 to Vereinigte Bühnen Graz, where he performed, among others, solo roles in The Nutcracker, Giselle, Swan Lake, and The Firebird, as well as in works by John Cranko, Kenneth MacMillan, Youri Vámos, and George Balanchine.

In 2004, he joined the Ballet of the Volksoper Vienna, where his roles included parts in Ferenc Barbay & Michael Kropf’s Max und Moritz, Maurice Béjart’s Le Concours, Thierry Malandain’s Don Juan and Cendrillon, and Vesna Orlić’s One Thousand and One Nights. In 2013, he additionally took on the role of assistant ballet master of the Vienna State Ballet. Since the 2020/21 season, Samuel Colombet has been ballet master of this company at the Volksoper Vienna.

Between 2008 and 2017, as part of the “choreo.lab” series of the Ballet Club of the Vienna State Opera & Volksoper, he presented his own choreographic works.
