Sae Kyung Rim

South Korean soprano SAE-KYUNG RIM studied singing at Hanyang University in Seoul and Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. She joined Teatro alla Scala’s Opera Studio, where she took part in productions such as Dialogues des Carmélites, Rinaldo and La bohème. She has won awards in several international competitions, among them Giambattista Viotti Music Competition in Vercelli. In 2009, she made her debut as Cio-Cio-San at Teatro Valli in Reggio. She has since taken this role to numerous opera stages, including Bergen National Opera, Oper Leipzig, Washington National Opera and, most recently, Savonlinna Opera Festival. Further engagements have included the title role in Aida at Gärtnerplatztheater, Arena di Verona and New National Theatre in Tokyo, Abigaille at Athens and Epidaurus Festival in Athens, as well as Leonora (La forza del destino) at Ópera de Las Palmas. Recently, Sae-Kyung Rim has appeared as Liù at Theater Dortmund and in the title role of Manon Lescaut at Hungarian State Opera House in Budapest. At Vienna State Opera, she has sung Cio-Cio-San and Tosca.
