Pino Alosa
Pino Alosa began his ballet training in Rome. After a long career as a dancer, he was first invited in 1995 by Charles Jude, Étoile of the Paris Opera, to teach at the Ballet of the Opéra National de Bordeaux. From 1996 to 2001, he served there as a permanent guest ballet master. He subsequently taught at numerous international ballet companies, including American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Houston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Ballet Nacional de Cuba, Shanghai Ballet, Universal Ballet Korea, Teatro alla Scala, The Royal Ballet London, Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris, Bavarian State Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet, Compañía Nacional de Danza as well as at the School of American Ballet.
In the 2002/03 season, he was ballet master at the Teatro Comunale in Florence and in 2003/04 held the same position at Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal. In 2006, he joined the artistic team of Boston Ballet, where he assisted in staging works by Petipa, Fokine, Nijinsky, Bournonville, Balanchine, Cranko, Kylián, Tharp as well as James Kudelka, Val Caniparoli and Helen Pickett. He also created several choreographies, including his own version of Paquita.
From 2011 to 2018, he served as Co-Artistic Director of the Compañía Nacional de Danza in Madrid, to which he returned from 2019 to 2024 as Associate Artistic Director and Principal Ballet Master. In the 2018/19 season, he worked as Ballet Master at Teatro alla Scala, where he coached principal dancers and rehearsed productions including George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, Yvette Chauviré’s Giselle, Rudolf Nureyev’s Don Quixote and The Sleeping Beauty, Wayne McGregor’s Woolf Works and Anna-Marie Holmes’ Le Corsaire. At the same time, Pino Alosa also worked as coach and stage manager for the Roberto Bolle and Friends gala.
Since the 2025/26 season, Pino Alosa has been ballet master of the Vienna State Ballet.
