Michael Kraus
Michael Kraus was born in Vienna. He studied at the music academies in Vienna and Munich. After engagements in Aachen and Ulm, as well as at the Vienna Volksoper, he developed a busy international guesting schedule that took him to many opera houses, including the state operas in Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg, Munich and Vienna, the Teatro alla Scala, the Royal Opera House in London, the Opéra Bastille in Paris, the opera houses of Amsterdam, Barcelona, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Helsinki, Palermo, San Francisco, Tel Aviv, Turin and Zurich, the Salzburg and Bregenz Festivals, the Glyndebourne Festival and the Baden-Baden Festival.
Michael Kraus' repertoire covers a broad spectrum ranging from Baroque and Mozart to French and Italian works, Wagner and Strauss to modern compositions. Michael Kraus also performs in operettas and musicals as well as concerts and recitals.
Michael Kraus has been Artistic Director of the Studio of the Vienna State Opera since the 2020/21 season.
