Matthew Polenzani

American tenor Matthew Polenzani is regarded as one of the most important tenors of his generation. A refined sense of style, elegance, dramatic commitment, and timeless artistry have led to appearances on the world’s leading opera and concert stages.
His 2024/25 season includes engagements such as his role debut as Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) at Teatro Real in Madrid, Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) at the Liceu in Barcelona, Rodolfo (La Bohème) at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Anatol in Samuel Barber’s Vanessa at the Kennedy Center in Washington, Otello at the Stuttgart State Opera, Idomeneo in San Francisco, and recital appearances at Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest, and in Frankfurt.
Most recently, he has appeared regularly at the Met in New York, the Hamburg State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, in Chicago, at the Ravinia Festival, the Savonlinna Festival, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, and at Houston Grand Opera.
He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2006 and has performed there regularly ever since.
