Marie-Nicole Lemieux

In 2000, MARIE-NICOLE LEMIEUX received, as the first canadian woman to do so, the first prize as well as the special prize for Lied singing at the renowned Reine Elisabeth Competition. Following this, she received numerous engagements at international stages which kick started her career. Today she regularly sings at the most important opera houses and festivals in the world, like among others the Milan Scala, the Salzburg Festival, the Liceu in Barcelona, the Berlin and Bayerischen Staatsoper, the Théâtre de La Monnaie in Brussels, the ROH Covent Garden in London, in Los Angeles, Paris, Madrid and Orange. In the near future, performances are taking her among others to the Zurich Opera, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Opéra Royal de Versailles. Her most important roles include Mrs. Quickly (Falstaff), Carmen, Dalila, Isabella (L’italiana in Algeri), Azucena, Ulrica, Tancredi, Geneviève (Pelléas et Mélisande) and Suzuki. Her solo CD Ne me refuse has received several awards. Marie-Nicole Lemieux holds a Doctor honoris causa from the University of Quebec à Chicoutimi. At the Wiener Staatsoper, she gave her debut in 2011 as Mrs. Quickly.
