Visual artist Marcus Spyros Bertermann was born in Duisburg and initially studied Classical Philology at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf before being accepted into the classes of Fritz Schwegler, David Rabinowitch and Didier Vermeiren at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art in 1998. He was awarded his diploma as a master student of Irmin Kamp in 2008, completed his master’s degree in History of Art, Ancient Greek and Pedagogy and passed the second State examination for teachers in 2010. Solo exhibitions of his works have been seen in the pavilion at Gallery Brusten in Wuppertal and the Künstlerloge in Ratingen. He has also presented works in numerous group exhibitions in Düsseldorf and Moers as well as at 150m³ Largus in Cologne. For Martin Schläpfer, he created the stage designs for the ballets »Roses of Shadow«, »44 Duos« and »Cellokonzert« at the Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg. With his stage design for the world premiere »In Sonne verwandelt«, Marcus Spyros Bertermann makes his debut at the Volksoper Vienna.
