Marco Vratogna

MARCO VRATOGNA comes from La Spezia and studied at the Puccini Conservatoire in his hometown as well as singing with Leone Magiera. He gave his opera debut in 2000 as Stankar in Trieste. From there, the italian baritone was invited to the world’s important opera houses, like the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Opera Frankfurt, Florence, Turin, Amsterdam, Leipzig, Bologna, Parma, the Staatsoper in Stuttgart, the Monnaie in Brussels, the Berliner Staatsoper, the Teatro Real in Madrid, to Genova, the Arena di Verona, the Liceu in Barcelona, the Dresden Semperoper, the ROH Covent Garden, to Torre del Lago, the Scala, the Hamburg Staatsoper, to Chicago, Philadelphia, Modena, San Francisco and Valencia. His repertoire includes roles among others such as Luna, Nabucco, Scarpia, Jago, René Ankarström, Jack Rance, Amonasro, Carlo Gérard, Rigoletto, Don Carlos (Forza del destino) and Macbeth. Recently he could be seen among others as Scarpia in London, Venice, New York, Amonasro and Scarpia in Verona, Jago in Houston and Barcelona, Scarpia and Simon Boccanegra in Dresden, Tonio and Alfio at the Scala. At the Wiener Staatsoper, Marco Vratogna gave his debut in 2007 as Scarpia and has since also sung Amonasro and Carlo Gérard.
