Sicilian-born Marco Filippo Romano is one of the most sought-after buffo baritones in the Italian and international opera scene.

He performs regularly at La Scala in Milan, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Real Madrid, the Vienna and Bavarian State Operas, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Semperoper, Den Norske Opera, Daegu Opera House (South Korea), the Glyndebourne Festival, Wexford Festival, Rossini Festival in Pesaro, and in Genoa, Turin, Rome, Bologna, at the Savonlinna Festival, and the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca.

One of his signature roles is Don Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia, a part he has performed on roughly two dozen stages.

Most recently, he appeared in the world premiere of Il nome della rosa at La Scala in Milan, as Don Bartolo at Teatro La Fenice in Venice and at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Don Magnifico (La cenerentola) at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, and Dulcamara (L’elisir d’amore) in Bologna.

Upcoming projects include Dulcamara in Tokyo, Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) in Liège, Taddeo (L’italiana in Algeri) in Piacenza, and Bartolo in Trieste.
