Kees Tjebbes

After studying at the Academy of Arts in Brussels, Kees Tjebbes made his debut as a lighting designer at numerous Dutch theatres and dance companies, including the Toneelgroep Theatre, Introdans, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and Nederlands Dans Theater. In the field of dance, he has worked with the choreographers Ed Wubbe, Nils Christe and Itzik Galili for Introdans and the Scapino Ballet Rotterdam. Since Jiří Kylián commissioned him in 2000 with the lighting design of his piece »Click-Pause-Silence«, Kees Tjebbes has created the light design for almost all of Kylián’s choreographies, including the NDT productions »27’52’’«. (2002), »Claude Pascal« (2002), »When Time Takes Time« (2002), »Far too close« (2003), »Last Touch« (2003), »Sleepless« (2004), »Toss of a Dice« (2005), »Chapeau« (2006) »Tar and Feathers« (2006), »Vanishing Twin« (2008), »Gods and Dogs« (2008), »Mémoires d’Oubliettes« (2009) as well as the world premiere for the ballet of the Paris Opera »Il faut qu’une porte ... « (2004). For several years, Kees Tjebbes has been responsible for setting up the lighting designs for the Kylián productions rehearsed worldwide.
