Joop Stokvis

After finishing his dancing career, Joop Stokvis studied costume design in Amsterdam and in 1963 took up the corresponding position at the Nederlands Dans Theater. He also worked as a costume designer for the Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and Het Nationale Ballet Amsterdam. Since 1990 he has designed costumes as a freelancer for companies such as Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, Ballet du Capitol Toulouse, Ballett der Komischen Oper Berlin, Royal Swedish Ballet and Royal Ballet of Flanders with choreographers such as Alvin Ailey (»Knoxville Summer of 1915«), George Balanchine, Glen Tetley, Nils Christe, Hans van Manen (»Trois Gnosiennes«), Benjamin Millepied or Jiří Kylián (»Transfigured Night«).
