Jesús Torres

The guitarist and composer Jesús María Torres Alhama was born in Barakaldo (Vizcaya) in 1965. He trained as a flamenco guitarist at the Conservatorio Superior de Música »Rafael Orozco« in Córdoba and studied flamencology at the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña. During his career, he has played for personalities such as Mario Maya, Antonio Gades, José Greco, Rosita Durán, María Rosa, Merche Esmeralda, Paco Romero, Tomás de Madrid, Sara Lezana, Paco Peña, Javier la Torre, Belén Maya, Israel Galván, Andrés Marín, Rocío Molina and Rafaela Carrasco. He has a close collaboration with David Coria and Isabel Bayón. In addition, his works, whose musical direction Jesús Torres also takes on, were created for ensembles such as Maria Maya’s Compañía Andaluza de Danza and Rafaela Carrasco’s Ballet Andaluz or for the Ballet Nacional de España, where he most recently brought out the production »Alento & Zaguán« under the direction of Antonio Navarro and collaborated with Rubén Olmos. He can be heard with compositions for solo guitar on the album »Viento del Norte«. Since 2010, Jesús Torres has been teaching at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza »María de Ávila« in Madrid.
