Fiona Jopson

Young soprano FIONA JOPSON was born in Scone in Australia and studied singing at University of Melbourne, Victorian College of the Arts, from 2007. She has won several awards and prizes, for instance at the Herald Sun Aria competition in Australia and Elizabeth Connell International Singing Competition for Dramatic Sopranos, where she was a finalist. The singer has played Leonora in Giuseppe Verdi’s Il trovatore (Citi Opera) and Ariadne in Richard Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos (OperaBox), among others. She has sung at Opera Australia, Victorian Opera, Citi Opera and Melbourne Opera, appearing as Mimì (La Bohème), Marzelline (Fidelio), Micaëla (Carmen) and La Suora Zelatrice (Suor Angelica). Fiona Jopson is also an internationally sought-after concert singer. At Vienna State Opera, she debuted in the children’s opera Cinderella as Stepmother in 2018, and she has also sung Lady-in-waiting in Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth here.
