Carmen Giannattasio has blazed a trail across stages the world over. Her unique talent has been in demand worldwide since her career was launched by taking First Prize and the Audience Award at Placido Domingo’s Operalia in 2002. She has become an acclaimed fixture on the most important stages of the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Teatro alla Scala, Bayerische Staatsoper, Berlin State Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Bolshoi.

In the 2020/21 season Carmen Giannattasio appeared at Teatro Massimo Palermo in Il Crepuscolo dei Sogni (based on an idea by Johannes Erath) and as Tosca at Sydney Opera. This was followed by a guest appearance as Alice Ford in a new production of Falstaff in Aix-en-Provence and at the Lyon Opera. Further engagements, including Norma and Mimì (La Bohème) in Hamburg, and Amalia (I masnadieri) in Munich unfortunately had to be cancelled due to COVID19.

Her repertoire includes roles such as Mimì (La Bohème), Desdemona (Otello), Leonora (Il trovatore), Amelia (Un ballo in maschera), Alice Ford (Falstaff) as well as the title roles in Aida, Tosca and Norma.

In February 2017 Carmen Giannattasio has received the title of Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella della Repubblica Italiana.
