The British mezzo-soprano Anita Monserrat will join the Opera Studio of the Vienna State Opera as a Hildegard Zadek Scholar for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. Anita recently won 1st Prize at the SWR competition "Junge Opernstars 2024" and was a semi-finalist in the 30th Operalia Competition hosted by Plácido Domingo. She was also a member of the Young Singers Project at the 2023 Salzburg Festival, where she performed in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, and participated in the International Meistersinger Akademie (IMA) in 2024. In the UK, Anita Monserrat reached the finals of the Kathleen Ferrier Awards 2023 and the Handel Singing Competition 2022.

Anita Monserrat is also in high demand as a concert artist: in 2023, she appeared as a soloist at Christmas in Vienna at the Vienna Konzerthaus and performed Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra under Hans Graf. Anita has taken part in numerous public masterclasses with artists such as KS Neil Shicoff, Malcolm Martineau, Catherine Wyn-Rogers, and Mary Bevan.

Anita Monserrat studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with KS Michael Schade and Laura Aikin. During her studies at the MdW, she sang roles such as Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel and the lead role in Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine. While studying in the UK, she held a choral scholarship at Trinity College, Cambridge, where she studied music. She then continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London under the guidance of Alex Ashworth and Catherine Wyn-Rogers.
