Andrea Weber

Andrea Weber received her BFA from the Juilliard School under the direction of Benjamin Harkarvy and was a dancer with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company from 2004 to 2011, performing roles in over 25 works. Today, Andrea is on faculty of the Merce Cunningham Trust, teaching Cunningham Technique® at New York City Center, Barnard College and the Joffrey Jazz and Contemporary Trainee program. She has also taught at Hartt Dance, American Dance Festival, Paul Taylor Winter Intensive, UNCSA, Barnard College, SUNY Purchase, Brown University, Salem State College, and ArcDanz Festival in Cholula Mexico. On behalf of the Merce Cunningham Trust Andrea Weber has staged several works by the artist: »Pond Way« for Ballett am Rhein and Ballet Vlaanderen, »Suite for Five« for the CNSMD in Lyon, »Rain Forest« for the Stephen Petronio Company, »Sounddance« at UNCSA, »How to Pass, Kick, Fall and Run« for Boston Conservatory and ADF Footprints, »Exchange« and »Scenario« for Lyon Opera Ballet, »Night of 100 Solos: Los Angeles« for UCLA, »Menil Event« for Houston Ballet. She arranged and staged the Events for the »Merce Cunningham: Common Time« exhibit at both the Walker Arts Center and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Andrea Weber has danced the role of Marchesa in »Queen of the Night«, and with Coleman & Lemieux Compagnie, Dance Heginbotham, Jessica Lang Dance, Cornfield Dance, Jonah Bokaer, Sue Bernard, and Charlotte Griffin. She can be seen in numerous film recordings of Cunningham’s works as well as in the film productions »If the Dancer Dances« by Maia Wechsler, »The Dancer Films« by Judy Dennis, and »White« by Jessica Lang Dance. With the Vienna State Ballet, her staging of Cunningham’s »Duets« can be seen in the premiere »Kontrapunkte« at Volksoper Wien.
