Alexander Tsymbalyuk

The Ukrainian bass Alexander Tsymbalyuk is one of the youngest and most sought-after interpreters of the role of Boris Godunow on the major international stages (including the Bavarian State Opera). The multiple competition prize winner studied at the Odessa Conservatory and was a member of the opera studio and the ensemble of the Hamburg State Opera. Today he is a regular guest at such important stages as New York's Metropolitan Opera, La Scala in Milan, the Bavarian and Berlin State Operas, the Paris Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre, the Liceu in Barcelona, Dresden's Semperoper, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Palau de les Arts Valencia. Recent successes include Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Das Rheingold, Lucia di Lammermoor, Turandot, Eugene Onegin and Le nozze di Figaro in Munich, as Ferrando (Il trovatore) in London, as Gremin (Eugene Onegin) and as Boris Godunow in Paris, as Sparafucile (Rigoletto) in Chicago, as Timur (Turandot) in New York, as Gremin in Hamburg, as Boris Godunow in Amsterdam, in Anton Rubinstein's The Demon in Barcelona, as the Commendatore (Don Giovanni) in Japan. Current season engagements include Timur and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at New York's Metropolitan Opera, Gremin in Hamburg and Naples, and Komtur in a new production of Don Giovanni at the Paris Opera. Future appearances take him again to the Met, Amsterdam, Naples, Hamburg, Tokyo and the Teatro Real in Madrid.
