Adela Zaharia
Adela Zaharia won the International Hariclea Darclée Competition in 2012 and the prestigious Operalia competition in 2017. Within a remarkably short time, she conquered major international opera stages, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Bavarian and Hamburg State Operas, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Real Madrid, the Paris Opéra Bastille and Opéra, Dutch National Opera Amsterdam, the San Francisco Opera, the Los Angeles Opera, and the Enescu Festival.
She has earned acclaim in roles such as Lucia di Lammermoor, Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Gilda (Rigoletto), Violetta (La traviata), Musetta (La Bohème), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Elvira (I puritani), Maria Stuarda, Angelica (Orlando Paladino), and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte). She is also in high demand as a concert soloist.
The Romanian soprano completed her studies in voice and piano at the Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. In 2010, she made her debut at the Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca as Gilda, followed by Norina (Don Pasquale), Musetta, and Micaëla (Carmen). She subsequently joined the Opera Studio of the Komische Oper Berlin and was a member of its ensemble from 2012 to 2014.
