Julian Prégardien

Julian Prégardien began his career at the Academy of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and was a member of the ensemble at Frankfurt Opera from 2009 to 2013. As an opera singer, he has appeared at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the state operas in Hamburg, Munich, and Berlin, as well as at the Salzburg Festival. In the 2024–25 season, he will make his debut at the Vienna State Opera in Mozart’s The Magic Flute (Tamino). Alongside his operatic work, he has developed an international career as a concert and recital singer, which continues to take him to Europe’s most important concert halls.
On the concert stage, Julian Prégardien recently celebrated successes with The Cleveland Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic under Franz Welser-Möst, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under Klaus Mäkelä, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Riccardo Muti, the Ensemble Pygmalion under Raphaël Pichon, the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble with Thomas Hengelbrock, and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra under Kristian Bezuidenhout.
Since 2024, Julian Prégardien has been an exclusive artist with the Harmonia Mundi label, which recently released Schubert’s Die Schöne Müllerin in collaboration with Kristian Bezuidenhout. He also performed the same song cycle with András Schiff, including appearances at Wigmore Hall and the Salzburg Festival.
He is a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich and the founder of the Liedstadt Festival, which took place for the first time in Hamburg in October 2024.
