
The German-Turkmen tenor Dovlet Nurgeldiyev has established himself as one of the most remarkable lyrical tenor voices of his generation. After studying in Turkmenistan and at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, he began his international career at the Hamburg State Opera.
In the 2025/26 season, he will make two house debuts: as Ferrando at the Vienna State Opera and as Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) in Toulouse. In Hamburg, he will appear as Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) and, for the first time, as Max (Der Freischütz).
Highlights of recent seasons include Grigori (Boris Godunov), Don Ottavio and Ferrando in Hamburg, Ferrando at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Stewa (Jenůfa) in Lisbon, Alfred (Die Fledermaus) in Munich, Lyon, and Tokyo, Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at the Bavarian State Opera, Tito (La clemenza di Tito) at the Liceu in Barcelona, Belfiore (La finta giardiniera) and Don Ottavio at the Berlin State Opera, Ismaele (Nabucco) in Zurich, Alfredo (La traviata) in Munich and Dublin, and Lensky (Eugene Onegin) at the Santa Fe Opera (USA).
