MASSIMILIANO PISAPIA was born in Turin and studied with the likes of Franco Corelli, Giulietta Simionato und Tito Gobbi. The tenor made his debut as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and soon after, sang the role of Gustaf III (Un ballo in maschera) under the direction of Riccardo Chailly in Leipzig. He went on to sing at leading opera houses such as La Scala Milan, Hamburg State Opera, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Zurich Opera House, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Arena di Verona, at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago and at the Teatro Colón in Argentina. The major roles of his repertoire include: Radames (Aida), Gustaf III., Rodolfo (La Bohème), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Duca (Rigoletto), Macduff (Macbeth), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra), Roberto Devereux. Most recent performances include Radames at La Scala Milan, Manrico (Il trovatore) at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and Cavaradossi in Rome. The tenor gave his debut performance at the Vienna State Opera in 2007 as Gustaf III and has also performed the role of Gabriele Adorno here.
