About the Tanzpodium

Short Summary

The Vienna State Ballet continues to collaborate with fashion designers to create extraordinary costumes.

While the previous seasons saw an exciting collaboration between Susanne Bisovsky and Martin Schläpfer for his ballets Marsch, Walzer, Polka and Wiener Blut and Adeline André’s designs for Alexei Ratmansky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and the waltz La Separation were shown, Karl Lagerfeld’s costume design for Uwe Scholz’s Mozart ballet Jeunehomme was elaborately reconstructed for the premiere of Les Sylphides. In the Tanzpodium Ballett & Mode, we will discuss the exciting relationship between fashion and ballet, clothing and the body, and the particularities of designing a costume for a dancer with costume designer Catherine Voeffray, who has a background in fashion design and has created numerous costumes for dance companies in Europe and the USA, as well as being responsible for reconstructions, and with ballet director Martin Schläpfer and the costume director of the Vienna State Opera Vera Richter.

Pease note that this is a discussion panel, which will be held in German.
