About the Format
What is a child prodigy? What is the "Viennese sound"? And how democratic is art?
These could be questions like those asked at Dialog am Löwensofa. It is a series of discussions in which experts from various fields such as art, journalism, psychology and science talk about topics from the world of opera and (performing) arts.
Exclusively for members of the Official Circle of Friends of the Vienna State Opera!
This session's topic
This time, internationally sought-after academic Susanna Zapke and former cultural politician and cultural manager Peter Marboe will be among those taking a seat on the historic Löwensofas in the Gustav Mahler Hall. The thematic starting point is the highly symbolic November 5, 1955, the day on which the Vienna State Opera, destroyed in the Second World War, and thus one of the most important music theaters in the world, was reopened. However, as it has become clear, especially in retrospect, that this glittering celebration was marred by a number of blemishes, a question arises today that will be explored this afternoon: "Reopening 1955 - everything new?"
