Jugendkompanie
The Jugendkompanie of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera offers 12 dancers aged between 17 and 20 the opportunity to prepare for professional life each season.
The aim of the Ballet Academy's Direction is to offer artistic and technical development opportunities for young dancers in a safe environment and thus support a successful transition into a professional ballet company.
In addition to classical, contemporary and repertoire training, as well as individual coaching, the focus of the training contract is on preparing for future auditions and gaining stage experience by participating in productions of the Vienna State Ballet, the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Volksoper.
The dancers also take part in the Jugendkompanie's own productions and the Ballet Academy's annual matinee at the Vienna State Opera.
The Jugendkompanie is a 1- to 2-year program, and admission is by audition only.

The Jugendkompanie is an ensemble of 12 dancers between the age of 17 and 20, who are granted a training contract for a maximum of two seasons based on their artistic potential and their level of dance technique. In close cooperation with the Vienna State Ballet, the young dancers acquire an in-depth stage experience and are regularly seen in productions of the Vienna State Ballet. Furthermore, they receive additional training, individual coaching in classical ballet and pas de deux, and they have their own performances with the Jugendkompanie.
Applications from both EU countries and non-EU countries are accepted and dancers must not be younger than 17 at the beginning of the contract and not older than 20 at the end of the contract (June 30, 2027). Dancers must have professional dance training with a focus on classical ballet. As a member of the Jugendkompanie, the students receive a training salary of EURO 1020,00 gross per month.
Contractual period: the 1st of September 2026 until the 30th of June 2027.
