The Romanian pianist ALEXANDRA DARIESCU was recently named as “one of 30 pianists under 30 destined for a spectacular career”. Following recent appearances in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and the Royal Albert Hall, 2017/18 marks more important milestones including a debut at Vienna’s prestigious Musikverein to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Dinu Lipatti and her concert debut in the USA with the Utah Symphony, which takes place shortly before her Canadian debut. Dariescu will return to London to perform concertos by Grieg and Lipatti where she will perform with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Dariescu is a regular guest perfomer at the Enescu Festival and will give masterclasses at the Iserlohner Herbsttage für Musik. A particular highlight of the season is the world premiere of The Nutcracker and I, by Alexandra Dariescu – a ground-breaking multimedia performance created for piano solo with dance and digital animation which will be performed in London, Moscow, at the Stavanger International Chamber Music Festival and in China. The pianist has also recorded numerous CDs. Always curious to continue learning, Alexandra receives advice and guidance from Sir András Schiff and Imogen Cooper. Alexandra Dariescu is a prizewinner of the Verbier Festival Academy and was the youngest musician to receive the Custodian of the Romanian Crown Medal.
