Tainá Ferreira Luiz

Tainá Ferreira Luiz was born in Rio de Janeiro. She received her education in her hometown at the Escola Estadual de Danças Maria Olenewa (ballet school of the Teatro Municipal). In 2007 she was awarded the 3rd Prize at the Seminario Internacional de Danca in Brasilia and a scholarship fort he Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera where she has graduated. She was finalist at the Premio Roma in 2009 and got an engagement at the Vienna State Ballet in the same year. Vienna State Opera she was dancing amongst others in Gyula Harangozó’s »The Nutcracker«, Gyula Harangozó sen. »Coppélia«, Rudolf Nureyev’s »Swan Lake«, Vladimir Malakhov’s »Die Bajadere«, Elena Tchernichova’s »Giselle«, Kenneth MacMillan’s »Mayerling«, Josef Hassreiter’s »Die Puppenfee«, John Cranko’s »Romeo and Juliet« and Roland Petit’s »Die Fledermaus«. Her most important roles at the Volksoper Wien comprise Jolanthe in Lotte de Beer's & Andrey Kaydanovskiy's »Jolanthe and the Nutcracker«, friend in Maurice Béjart’s »Le Concours«, Witwe Bolte in »Max und Moritz« by Ferenc Barbay & Michael Kropf, Nymph in Boris Nebyla’s »L'Après-midi d'un faune«, Wife in Vesna Orlić’s »Carmina Burana«, Princess Budur in Orlić’s »Tausendundeine Nacht«, Tigerlily in Orlić’s »Peter Pan«, Fairy and Soloelf in Thierry Malandain’s »Cendrillon« and parts in Davide Bombana’s »Roméo et Juliette«, Malandain’s »Don Juan«, András Lukács’ »Bolero«, Andrey Kaydanovskiy’s »Zeitverschwendung« and »The ugly Duckling« as well as works by Martin Schläpfer. Furthermore, she has been dancing in several musicals, operettas and operas at the Volksoper Wien as well as operas in the Vienna State Opera. She was also guesting in Japan, Slovakia and at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland. In 2017 she was creating her first own choreography »Thoughts & Feelings« for »Young Choreographers« of the Ballettclub Wiener Staatsoper & Volksoper in the Theater Akzent, Vienna. For »Plattform Choreographie« of the Vienna State Ballet in June 2022 followed »Tight« to the commissioned composition of the same name by Sebastian Brugner-Luiz.
