Raúl Giménez

RAÚL GIMÉNEZ was born in Argentina. He gave his debut performance in 1980 as Ernesto in Don Pasquale at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. In 1984 he made his debut at the Wexford Festival in Le astuzie femminili and immediately thereafter sang in Genf Il turco in Italia, at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro (Il signor Bruschino), in Venice (Armida), and Amsterdam (Il rirorno d’Ulisse in patria). Further debuts – at both the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and at the Dallas Opera – followed. Since then, the tenor has sung at La Scala, Milan, at the Paris Opera, at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, New York Metropolitan Opera, in Houston, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montréal, Madrid, Rome, Naples, Palermo, Florence, Verona, at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, in Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona and Frankfurt. The singer’s latest performances took him to such places as Paris, Geneva, Brussels and to the Rossini Festival in Wildbad. His performances so far at the Vienna State Opera include Conte d’Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Nemorino (L‘elisir d‘amore), Lindoro (L‘italiana in Algeri) and Abate (Adriana Lecouvreur).
