Thomas Lausmann

THOMAS LAUSMANN has been Head of Music at the Wiener Staatsoper since 2013 where he was solo répétiteur since 2010. Since 2008, he also works as Christian Thielemann’s musical assistant at the Bayreuther Festspielen. Proceeding his piano studies at the Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart and further studies at the Eastman School of Music (MM of Music) and Manhattan School of Music (Professional Studies in opera coaching), he was assistant conductor at the New York City Opera from 2001 to 2007, and worked as a guest répétiteur at the Washington National Opera, Houston Grand opera, San Francisco Opera and Seattle Opera. Additional positions include solo répétiteur and assistant to the head of music at the Staatsoper Hamburg, as well as assistant to the General Music Director and deputy head of music at the Komische Oper in Berlin.
