Sonya Yoncheva

The soprano SONYA YONCHEVA was born in 1981 in Bulgaria, and completed a studies in piano and singing in her hometown Plovdiv and perfected herself at the Conservatoire in Geneva. She is a multiple international prize-winner - and won in 2010 the renowned Operalia singing competition in Milan. Nowadays, she recieved regular invitations to the Teatro Real Madrid, the Milan Scala, the Prague National opera, to Montpellier, Paris, Munich, Moscow, Frankfurt, Zurich, New York, London, Brussels, Avignon, St. Petersburg and Hamburg. Recently, she sang at the Metropolitan Opera in New York Desdemona in Otello, Mimì in La Bohème and Violetta in La traviata; at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, she sang Micaela in Carmen and Violetta, in Paris Iolantha and Violetta, in Berlin Violetta, in Monte Carlo Donna Elvira and in Don Giovanni and Alcina. Current project include Tatjana in Paris, Manon in Monte Carlo, Antonio in London and Thaïs at the Salzburg Festival. At the Wiener Staatsoper, she gave her debut in 2013 as Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), and also sung Marguerite.
