Roberto Tagliavini

Roberto Tagliavini was born in Parma, where he made his début in 2005 at the Teatro Regio in Gluck’s Alceste. Later, he performed at the major Italian and European theatres with a repertoire ranging from Mozart to Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti and Verdi. In 2009 he was voted singing actor of the season at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste for his interpretation of Selim (»Il turco in Italia«), in 2010 he won the prize for the best young singer at the Verdi Festival in Parma for Loredano (»I due Foscari«) and the Verdi Requiem under the baton of Lorin Maazel. Later successes included Mustafà in »L’italiana in Algeri« in Trieste, Lord Sydney (»Il viaggio a Reims«) at Milan’s La Scala, Count Almaviva (»Le nozze di Figaro«) in Toulon, Raimondo (»Lucia di Lammermoor«) at the Carlo Felice in Genua, Lord Valton (»I puritani«) at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Ferrando (»Il trovatore«) at the Arena di Verona, Don Basilio (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«) in Palermo and at Zurich Opera, Count Rodolfo (»La sonnambula«) in St. Gallen, Uberto (»La serva padrona«) at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the King (»Aida«) to open the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino 2011, Figaro (»Le nozze di Figaro«) at the Teatro Maestranza in Seville, and Frère Laurent (»Roméo et Juliette«) at the ABAO Bilbao and Teatro Real in Madrid. Other important appearances were his return to La Scala, including Ramfis (»Aida«), a concert performance of »Les pêcheurs de perles« at the Teatro Real in Madrid, »Giovanna d’Arco« in Salzburg, the title role in »Attila« in Verona, Saint Petersburg, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Shanghai, Turandot and Ramfis in Rome, Ferrando (»Il trovatore«) at La Scala and in Venice, »Maometto II in Rome«, »Aida« in Verona, and Le Gouverneur (»Le comte Ory«) in Milan. Recently he sang Ferrando at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Zaccaria (»Nabucco«) at the Bavarian State Opera, Escamillo (»Carmen«) at the Opéra national de Paris, Count Walter (»Luisa Miller«) at the Salzburg Festival, Leporello (»Don Giovanni«) at London’s Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Alidoro (»La cenerentola«) in Amsterdam, Silva (»Ernani«) in Lyon, Paris and Vichy and Des Grieux (»Manon«) at the Opéra national de Paris. To date, he has sung Zaccaria at the Wiener Staatsoper.
