Adam Plachetka

Bass baritone ADAM PLACHETKA completed his studies at the Conservatory of his hometown Prague. Apart from a number of national competitions, he won the International Antonín Dvořák singing competition. In 2005 he made his debut at the Prague National Theatre, and soon after at the Prague Staatsoper. Performances have led among others to the Salzburg Festival, to the Bayerische Staatsoper, to Glyndebourne, to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Milan Scala, to Baden-Baden, to the New York Met, the Lyric Opera Chicago and the Berlin Staatsoper. Current and future performances include among others Don Giovanni (Deutsche Oper Berlin), Guglielmo (Scala), Nozze-Figaro (Prague Nationaltheater, Chicago, Houston, Salzburg Festival), Masetto, Leporello and Belcore (Met), Papageno (Chicago), Belcore (Covent Garden). Since 2010/2011, Adam Plachetka is a member of the ensemble of the Wiener Staatsoper and has already sung among others Schaunard, Basilio, Melisso (Alcina), Masetto, Malatesta, Don Giovanni, Haly (L’italiana in Algeri), Graf Dominik (Arabella), Nozze-Figaro and Conte D´Almaviva, Guglielmo, Dulcamara, Hercule (Alceste), Alidoro, Paolo and Harlekin.
