Dmitry Korchak

Dmitry Korchak was born in Russia and studied voice and conducting there. Today, he is one of the most exciting and popular tenors of his generation and is regularly praised by the international press, particularly for his interpretation of the bel canto repertoire. Since winning the Francisco Viñas Singing Contest in 2004 and two other prizes (4th place and Zarzuela Prize) in Plácido Domingo’s Operalia in Los Angeles, Dmitry Korchak has quickly become a regular guest at leading opera houses and concert halls worldwide, including the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Metropolitan Opera New York, Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Bavarian, Berlin and Hamburg State Operas, the Liceu in Barcelona, Chicago Lyric Opera, Semperoper, Théâtre La Monnaie in Brussels, Opéra National de Paris, Lyon, Zurich, Valencia, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Palermo, Madrid, Pesaro and Los Angeles. Recently, he has appeared in several of his showcase roles, such as the title roles in »Tales of Hoffmann« and »Werther«, and as Lensky (»Eugene Onegin«) and Ernesto (»Don Pasquale«) at the Wiener Staatsoper, in John Neumeier’s successful production of Gluck’s »Orphée et Eurydice« in the autumn festival at Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and at Hamburg State Opera; he debuted at Teatro Real Madrid as Gaultiero in »Il pirata«, sang Tamino at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía Valencia in a new production of »The Magic Flute«; he also appeared at La Monnaie in Meyerbeer’s »Robert le Diable« and at Liceu in Bizet’s »Les pêcheurs de perles« and debuted at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo as Arnauld in Rossini’s »Guillaume Tell«. He debuted in 2008 at the Wiener Staatsoper as Nemorino, going on to sing the roles listed above and others, including Don Ramiro (»La cenerentola«), Count Almaviva (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«), Arturo (»I puritani«) and Don Ottavio (»Don Giovanni«). Dmitry Korchak’s busy schedule as a conductor has included several symphonic programmes at Moscow concert halls. Since 2017 he has also been first guest conductor at the theatre in Novosibirsk, where he launched his own festival. Dmitry Korchak has made numerous audio and video recordings.
