The Turkish tenor MURAT KARAHAN studied vocal arts at the University of Bilkent. Already during his studies, he debuted at the State Opera in Ankara in 2003, where he became Honorary Member two years later. In 2009/2010 he took master classes with Renata Scotto, Anna Vandi and Cesare Scarton at the Academia di Santa Cecilia, where he also perfected his training with Professor Bruno Cagli. Since 2012 he is a regular guest at the Latvian National Opera in Riga, where he sings parts such as Edgardo, Rodolfo, Alfredo, Manrico and Rigoletto-Herzog. In 2013 he made his debut as Edgardo at the Bolschoi theatre in Moscow, to where he returned in the following seasons as Alfredo, Rodolfo and Don José. Further performances led him to Reims and Limoges as Manrico, to the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Alfredo and to the Staatsoper Istanbul. In the coming months, he will perform Ismaele at the Münchner Opernfestspiele, as Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut) at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and as Manrico in Parma. Furthermore, Murat Karahan also performs as concert singer.
