Michele Spotti
Michele Spotti was born in 1993 and is one of today’s most appreciated orchestra conductors. After graduating as a violin player he went on to graduate as a conductor under Daniele Agiman at the “Giuseppe Verdi” conservatory in Milan. He then continued his studies at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva, at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival Academy under Neeme Järvi and Gennady Rozhdestvensky, and in Italy under Gianandrea Noseda, Gianluigi Gelmetti, and Daniele Gatti. Spotti made his debut conducting Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto and in 2016 Alberto Zedda chose him as his assistant for the production of Rossini’s Ermione at the Opéra de Lyon. His most recent engagements include his Tokyo debut with the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra and Juan Diego Flórez; the new productions of Don Carlos at the Theater Basel, of Guillaume Tell which opened the 2021/2022 season of the Opéra de Marseille; and of La Fille du régiment at the 2021 Donizetti Opera Festival. He also conducted a production of La Cenerentola at the Bayerische Staatsoper, La Belle Hélène at the Komische Oper Berlin, La traviata in Palermo, L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari. Recently nominated Musical Director of the Orchestra Filarmonica di Benevento, Michele Spotti also enjoys a busy concert schedule in Italy. His 2022/2023 engagements include: his debuts at the Staatsoper Stuttgart with a new production of L’elisir d’amore and at the Wiener Staatsoper where he will conduct La Fille du régiment. In 2023 he will be back at the Theater Basel to conduct Rigoletto and at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo for the Don Pasquale. He will also be making his debut at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia with a new production of Ernani.
